Every Single Iris on the Internet by William Marsey

variable length, javascript-coded sound and music, coded visuals

Composed entirely in JavaScript and the Web Audio API, this two part work explores the hidden labour and fragility of machine learning datasets, drawing on the gaps, ambiguities, and ghosts left behind as the internet ages. The score follows suit. As the flowers populate the page, clicks and typing can be heard in a sea of different tempos, evoking the constant processing and indexing of data. As each cell dies, so does the clicking, and the audio begins to collapse into repeating patterns and clusters before gradually falling silent.

Remain long enough after the flowers disappear and the second half of the work plays: a funereal dirge for the flowers, with all sound again generated through JavaScript and the Web Audio API.
